Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 11/25/18

I did something yesterday that I haven’t done in years; maybe even more than ten years, which is crazy that’s its actually taken so long. I put up a Christmas tree. The best part was that my boys helped and my hubby was there to join in the laughs and take pictures. I wasn’t expecting it to be such a cozy, family thing, but I was so happy that it naturally happened that way. I also realized that it was the first Christmas tree in our new house and the first one that my hubby and I have had since we’ve been together.

I was such a Grinch last year, but it didn’t make me happy; so this year, I’ve been determined to be as festive as possible. So far, it’s been working out perfectly.

But enough about me. Since it sort of fits with everything that happened yesterday, let’s just get right to it. Let’s put on our thinking caps, break out our playlists and get to work!  Our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is first.

As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt.  We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!

If you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions.   Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at helenvahdati@yahoo.com.

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

Song Lyric Sunday – Listen by Beyonce

I’m assuming someone else will choose this one as well, but I just couldn’t not post this one. As soon as I came up with the theme, this song started playing in my head. I just finished listening to it, and I have the chills. It is such a powerful song and Beyonce is masterful in her craft, to say the least.

I didn’t realize how powerful the lyrics were until I just read them. Wow. I’ve been that person who was told they weren’t good enough. It is such an empowering place when you finally realize your worth and walk away from the person who was holding you back.

I do hope you enjoy!

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start but can’t complete
Listen to the sound from deep within
Its only beginning to find release
Oh the time has come for my dreams to be heard
They will not be pushed aside and turned
Into your own, all ’cause you won’t listen
Listen, I am alone at a crossroads
I’m not at home in my own home
And I’ve tried and tried
To say what’s on my mind
You should have known
Now I’m done believing you
You don’t know what I’m feeling
I’m more than what
You’ve made of me
I followed the voice, you gave to me
But now I’ve gotta find my own
You should have listened
There was someone here inside
Someone I thought had died
So long ago
Oh I’m screaming out
And my dreams will be heard
They will not be pushed aside or turned
Into your own
All ’cause you won’t listen
Listen, I am alone at a crossroads
I’m not at home in my own home
And I’ve tried and tried
To say what’s on my mind
You should have known
Now I’m done believing you
You don’t know what I’m feeling
I’m more than what
You’ve made of me
I followed the voice, you gave to me
But now I’ve gotta find my own
I don’t know where I belong
But I’ll be moving on
If you don’t, if you won’t
Listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start, but I will complete
Now I am done believing you
You don’t know not what I am feeling
I’m more than what you’ve made of me
I followed the voice you think you gave to me
But now I got to find my own, my own

Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 11/18/18

Today really got away from me. I was sitting here relaxing and crocheting when I suddenly remembered that it was Saturday and I hadn’t posted the theme yet. I meant to do it before I left for a party today, but I ran out of time. I do apologize for the lateness of it, but at least I remembered, right?

I’m going to keep this short and just get right to it. Let’s put on our thinking caps, break out our playlists and get to work!  Our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is listen.

Song Lyric Sunday – Hole In My Soul by Apocalyptica

I came into this thinking I knew exactly what song I was going to choose. I picked the theme based on the song, after all. I was listening to my music library on shuffle on Friday and heard a song that had the word “soul” in it, but I couldn’t find it this morning. Oh well, there are other songs to choose from, I just had to find one.

I finally ending up doing a Google search and came across this song. It is new to me as of today, but I absolutely love it. I may have to check out more of this band. I thought I’d seen their name before, but I thought they were something completely different. However, since I ended up falling in love with this song, I’m going to say that it wasn’t a bad thing that I was surprised.

Now that I’ve done yet another Google search, I’ve found that my memory wasn’t wrong. They are a Finnish cello metal band from Finland, which means that maybe I was lucky that this one wasn’t too metal for me (because there is such a thing).

I do hope you enjoy!

It’s getting dark and I’m lost in the woods
I’d find a way out if I knew where to look
If I could, I’d rip this page out of my book
I’m confused and misguided and my faith is beside me
I’ve got a hole in my soul where you use to be
There’s a thorn in my heart and it’s killing me
I wish I could go back and do it all differently
‘Cause now there’s a hole in my soul where you use to be
A fire inside but my bloods turning cold
I’m walking alone down this desolate road
Yesterday feels like a life time ago
The memories are fading, my dreams are all changing
I’ve got a hole in my soul where you use to be
There’s a thorn in my heart and it’s killing me
I wish I could go back and do it all differently
‘Cause now there’s a hole in my soul where you use to be
There’s a hole in my heart, in my life, in my way
And it’s filled with regret and all I did, to push you away
If there’s still a place in your life, in your heart for me
I would do anything, so don’t ask me to leave
I’ve got a hole in my soul where you use to be
You’re the thorn in my heart and you’re killing me
I wish I could go back and do it all differently
I wish that I’d treated you differently
‘Cause now there’s a hole in my soul where you use to be

Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 11/11/18

After the crazy weekend last time around (my standards have seriously changed lately on what I consider a busy weekend), we decided to take it easy. That didn’t stop me from trying to clean my house today. It didn’t take me long to realize that my back just doesn’t allow me to do certain things anymore. I suppose I should feel lucky that housecleaning appears to be out. I honestly just feel sad about it. Plus, it appears we will most likely need to hire someone to clean the house, which is another monthly expense and added stress. Maybe I should stick to the grateful part?

Anyway, I am going to get to the theme today. I came up with one you just might like, since it has a few different directions you can take it. I’m looking forward to seeing how it inspires your music choices. Let’s put on our thinking caps, break out our playlists and get to work!  Our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is soul.

Song Lyric Sunday – She Takes Me High by We The Kings

I thought I’d used this song before, so I was happy to find that I hadn’t. It fits perfectly this week and I forgot how happy this song makes me. It’s a pretty dreary day in my neck of the woods and this song was the perfect antidote.

This song makes me think of young love and how magical falling in love can be. There’s also something magical about the love you have after you’ve been with someone for a few years and things are jut clicking. Relationships are hard and they aren’t always fun, but I will always believe they’re worth it.
Here’s to love, in all it’s amazing forms. I hope you all have or find someone who takes you high.
Happy Sunday!
Last nights dream
We rode our bikes
To our tree house by the sea
And there we laid and said we’d never leave.
Last nights dream
I promised you would have
The whole world at your feet
And that we’d lay
On a bed we made of leaves.
And we both know
You’re everything I need
And now I know
What she does to me
She takes me high
She takes me high
She takes me high
She takes me high
She wakes me up
She breaks me down
Shes got me 10 feet off the ground
She takes me high, high
She takes me high tonight
Last nights dream
We drove your car
To the dead end of your street
And we made love where no one else could see.
Last nights dream
I held your hand
And asked if you would be
Forever mine, together you and me.
And we both know
You’re everything I need
And now I know
What she does to me
She takes me high
She takes me high
She takes me high
She takes me high
She wakes me up
She breaks me down
Shes got me 10 feet off the ground
She takes me high tonight.
Ill keep sleeping
If I don’t stop dreaming
I would stop my breathing for you
I’m not leaving
This life I’m dreaming
Cause I cant stop living with you.
She takes me high
She takes me high
She takes me high
She takes me high
She wakes me up
She breaks me down
Shes got me 10 feet off the ground
She takes me high, high
She takes me high tonight

Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 11/4/18

I have a busy day today. I’m meeting my sister for lunch, then we’re going to get our tattoo worked on. While I’m stoked to get a new tattoo (even if it’s only adding to one I already have) I have to keep reminding myself that it’s going to hurt. Also, the after-care is the part I like the least. But, I’m excited to spend time with my sister and for the new finished product.

I don’t really have much else for today, so let’s juts get right to it. Let’s put on our thinking caps, break out our playlists and get to work!  Our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is take/taking.
